Hauling water buckets to every paddock twice a day gets old fast. For a boarding facility in Dayton, that daily grind was exactly what was happening - and with multiple horses spread across several paddocks, it added up to a lot of wasted time and a lot of room for error. The solution was getting reliable, automatic water access built directly into each paddock.
We came in with our excavator and got to work running water lines and setting up 11 drinking post waterers across the property, plus a yard hydrant for general use. That meant digging trenches through active paddock areas, working carefully around existing fencing, and keeping things clean and tight throughout. The mini excavator was the right tool for the job - precise enough to work in tight spaces without tearing up the whole property.
Drinking post waterers are a solid choice for horse facilities. They work by only releasing water when the animal pushes the paddle down, which keeps the bowl clean and cuts way down on standing water. No algae buildup, no frozen bowls in the cold months ahead, and no staff member having to lug buckets out to each pen every morning and evening. That's a real, daily difference for the people running this place.
The yard hydrant ties it all together - giving staff a convenient water source right there on the property without having to run back to the barn for everything. From a facility management standpoint, having water accessible in every paddock and a central hydrant nearby just makes the whole operation run smoother. Horses drink consistently, chores take less time, and helpers aren't burning out on grunt work.
This is the kind of job we enjoy taking on. It takes real planning and the right equipment to pull off a multi-waterer install across a working horse facility without creating a mess or disrupting the animals. We're glad this boarding operation now has a water system that actually works for them - and their horses.
