Indoor arenas take a beating. Constant hoof traffic, circles, stops, and lateral work all push footing material around over time. Eventually you end up with low spots, hard patches, and uneven ground that makes every ride feel off - and puts unnecessary stress on your horses. That's exactly what we were dealing with at Legacy Equestrian's Arrowhead Arena.

Here's what we were working with coming in - a full-size indoor arena with footing that had shifted and chunked up significantly. The surface had gone rough and irregular, with material piled and displaced from years of heavy use. Not the kind of ground you want your horses working on, especially during busy riding and training seasons.

We brought in our grading equipment and got to work on a full regrade of the arena floor. The goal was straightforward - redistribute the existing material evenly across the entire surface, pull out the rough chunks, and get the grade back to where it needed to be. Work like this takes patience. You can't just run a blade over it once and call it done. It takes multiple passes to get the footing dialed in and consistent from wall to wall.

The difference a proper regrade makes is hard to overstate. Good footing protects your horses' legs, gives them confident ground to push off of, and makes training more effective. When the footing is bad, everything suffers - your horse, your rides, and eventually your results. Getting it right isn't optional, it's part of responsible arena management.

This is the kind of work we genuinely enjoy. Custom grading inside an arena like this requires a steady hand and an eye for consistency - it's not the same as grading outside. We work carefully around walls, panels, and gates to make sure every corner of the floor gets the same attention as the center. If your arena footing is overdue for some attention, this is what that work looks like done right.
