Hauling water by hand or dragging hoses across a pasture gets old fast. It's one of those daily chores that eats up time and becomes a real headache when temperatures swing in either direction. That's exactly the kind of problem we helped RnR Ranch solve with this setup out in St. Croix Falls.
We installed two Ritchie automatic waterers and two yard hydrants across the property. Ritchie units are built to handle the demands of working farms - they're reliable, freeze-resistant, and designed to keep fresh water available without you having to think about it. Each unit got set on a solid concrete pad, which keeps everything stable and positioned correctly for the animals to access it without issue.
The excavating side of this job is what makes it all work. We dug in the water lines, compacted the base, and made sure everything was tied in properly before the units went down. You don't want shortcuts on the underground work - that's where problems show up down the road if it's not done right the first time.
The end result is a watering system that just runs. No hauling, no frozen tanks to deal with come winter, no wasted time on a chore that should take care of itself. For a horse operation like RnR Ranch, that kind of reliability matters every single day. We're grateful for the trust they put in us to get it done right.
And yes - the ranch corgi was on-site supervising the whole operation. Some job sites just come with better crew members than others.
